The short answer
The Bahamas is an island group, so a hotel labelled “Bahamas” is not necessarily near Nassau airport. Choose the island and the exact property before booking a flight. Nassau / Paradise Island, the Exumas and Eleuthera / Harbour Island involve different arrival and onward-transport decisions.
Nassau and Paradise Island
Use this as a starting point if you want to compare Nassau-based hotels and resort options. Map the specific beach, meals and excursions from the property. A day trip advertised to another island is not proof that you can easily stay on that island using the same transfer; read the itinerary and product type.
The Exumas: identify the exact base
Great Exuma and an excursion among the Exuma cays are different travel plans. Confirm the airport, property address and boat departure before paying. A photograph of a remote cay should not determine your hotel choice without checking how you will reach that location and how much of the day is spent travelling.
Eleuthera and Harbour Island
Match the airport and local transfer to the exact town or island where you will sleep. Harbour Island requires its own connection, rather than assuming a road journey from every airport. Our Bahamas flight option currently searches NAS, Nassau; it does not search every Bahamian airport or include onward island transport.

Match the airport to the accommodation
Write down the actual property and ask which arrival point it recommends. Nassau, Great Exuma, Staniel Cay, North Eleuthera and a Harbour Island stay represent different final journeys. A search result using a broad island-group name may not describe the most convenient airport for your booking.
Compare the flight and transfer together. Include road transport, any water taxi and the time at each stage. A lower airfare can be offset by an awkward final journey, especially when arriving late or travelling with children. Confirm how the return will work before paying for separate tickets.
Choose one main holiday pattern
For a mix of city visits, beaches and organised excursions, a Nassau-area base is a practical starting model. For a stay organised around the Exuma Cays, identify the exact base and the boat excursions that depart from it. For Eleuthera, decide whether driving between selected areas is part of the experience you want, or whether Harbour Island itself is the focus.
Andros is another candidate when a nature-oriented programme and a specifically arranged stay appeal. It should not simply be added to make an itinerary look more complete. Each extra island needs a reason that justifies the transport and accommodation move.
Use a three-question shortlist
Ask what you want to do on an ordinary day, how much transport you are comfortable organising and which facilities you need close by. Then compare accommodation that fits those answers. A quieter location is not automatically a better choice for a traveller who wants many walkable dining options; a resort area is not automatically the right answer for someone seeking a dedicated guided nature stay.
For a first short trip, our preference is one well-chosen base. Save a second island for a longer holiday unless the actual schedule makes the combination comfortable. The quality of the days matters more than the number of island names in the booking confirmation.
