Arriving in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The short answer

MBJ is Sangster International at Montego Bay; KIN is Norman Manley at Kingston. Choose the airport against your accommodation and itinerary. The flight search on this website preselects MBJ for Jamaica. You can change the destination to KIN in the form to compare another arrival airport.

Start with the final address

Write down your hotel address before comparing flights. Request a transfer estimate from each realistic airport, with your arrival time and group size. A direct flight is not automatically the shortest door-to-door journey if it is followed by a long drive away from the place you actually want to stay.

Shared and private transfers

For shared transport, ask about waiting time, other hotel stops and the last departure after a delayed flight. For a private transfer, confirm the vehicle size, luggage allowance and child-seat arrangement. Save the pickup instructions and a contact number, not just a booking voucher with the provider’s name.

Price the return journey

Compare round-trip totals rather than only the arrival fare. Ask your accommodation or transfer operator what pickup time suits the airline’s check-in requirement. Do not derive the departure-day buffer from a best-case map estimate: loading luggage and traffic are part of the journey too.

Keep airport choices explicit

Jamaica also has Ian Fleming International near Ocho Rios; available air service depends on your dates and route. Check current airline options directly if your itinerary points there. Confirm the airport code on every ticket and transfer, especially when different people are making the bookings.

Compare time and cost together

Put the airfare, baggage, arrival transfer, final-night location and return transfer into the same comparison. A flight that saves money may still suit you after a longer drive, but make that an explicit choice. Do not discover the road journey only after paying for a non-refundable hotel.

For a split stay, compare arriving and departing through different airports when suitable airline service exists. Price the full ticket and both transfers before assuming this is better value. Separate one-way fares and return tickets can behave differently for the same travel dates.

Plan for delays without guessing

Ask how the transfer provider monitors the flight, what waiting is included and how to contact it after landing. If a shared service has a departure limit, establish the alternative before arrival. A private transfer also needs clear instructions about meeting points and changes.

Keep essential travel information available offline and share it with another adult in the group. Include the accommodation's full address, not only a property nickname. If check-in depends on meeting a host, explain the arrival schedule and ask what happens when it changes.

The final morning needs its own calculation

Use the airline's current check-in guidance and a locally informed transfer estimate. Add luggage loading and any rental return procedure. The fastest drive experienced earlier in the week is not a reliable promise for departure day.

Confirm the airport code on the driver booking as well as the flight ticket. This simple check matters particularly when different people arrange the hotel, airline and transfers or when the itinerary begins and ends in different parts of Jamaica.

Put it into practice

Before you book

  1. Match the airport code to the hotel address.
  2. Confirm pickup instructions and child seats.
  3. Compare return transfer costs as well as flight prices.
