The short answer
Junkanoo is convenient for a downtown-focused visit, Cable Beach belongs to the western resort area, and Cabbage Beach is on Paradise Island. Choose the location and facilities that suit your day before arranging transport.
Start with your accommodation or port
Nassau beach planning becomes easier when you put the starting point on the map. A cruise visitor near downtown, a guest on Cable Beach and someone staying on Paradise Island have different journeys. Do not choose a beach solely because it appears first on a ranked list; consider how much of the day you want to spend travelling.
Decide whether the beach is the principal outing or a short addition to a city visit. For a short stop, simplicity can be more valuable than a distant stretch of sand. For a full beach day, facilities, shade and food may justify a more deliberate journey.
Junkanoo: a practical downtown combination
The tourism board places Junkanoo Beach near downtown Nassau and identifies it as the Western Esplanade. That makes it a candidate for combining a city walk with some time by the water. The actual experience depends on the day, available facilities and conditions when you arrive.
Do the city activity you most care about first, then decide how much beach time remains. Avoid carrying a large beach setup through every museum or shop. For a cruise stop, keep the return deadline visible and do not let an apparently short distance remove the need for a time buffer.
Cable Beach: plan the access point
Cable Beach lies west of downtown and is associated with a resort area. Choose your specific access arrangement rather than asking a driver simply to take you somewhere along the beach. Establish what facilities you can use and whether they require a separate payment or a confirmed resort pass.
If a resort day pass is the plan, read the exact inclusions: beach access, pools, chairs, towels, food and drinks can be separate items. Check availability for your date before organising the transfer. The presence of a large hotel does not itself entitle a non-guest to use its services.

Cabbage Beach: a Paradise Island outing
Cabbage Beach is on Paradise Island, so include the journey there and back in the schedule. Confirm the entrance and pickup point you will use. An attractive photograph of a nearby resort does not describe what is available at every public access point.
Assess the water on arrival and follow signs and local guidance. A famous beach can have conditions unsuitable for a particular swimmer. For a family, ensure the day still works if swimming is shortened: shade, refreshments and an easy return become especially important.
Compare the entire beach day
Add transport in both directions, any admission or equipment, lunch, drinks and the facilities your group needs. Ask whether prices are per person or per item. A low-cost transfer to a beach without the setup you need can be poorer value than a clearly defined package elsewhere.
Keep a small amount of flexibility. If the desired facilities are unavailable, choose a shorter visit or a different suitable outing rather than spending the day negotiating expectations that were never part of the booking.
Three sensible versions
For a short downtown visit, combine one city priority with Junkanoo if time and conditions suit. For a full resort-style day, arrange a specific Cable Beach option in advance. For someone already staying on Paradise Island, investigate the nearby beach setup before paying to cross the area again. These are suggested planning choices, not universal rankings of sand or water quality.
