The short answer
Spend the first part of the day exploring San Nicolas, then make Baby Beach the main afternoon stop if conditions suit. A mural walk and a relaxed beach visit are enough; this is not the day to add Arikok and every north-coast landmark.
Why put these two places together?
San Nicolas offers a different focus from Aruba's hotel-strip beach days. Its murals provide a reason to walk through the town and pay attention to local and visiting artists. Baby Beach lies farther south, so the two can form a coherent outing without sending you back towards Palm Beach between stops.
Our route is an editorial suggestion, not a timed guided tour. Decide whether you want an art-led morning or mainly a beach day. That choice determines whether to book a mural guide, include a museum or keep the town visit short. A family with young children may reasonably do less walking and spend longer at the beach.
Start with the murals
The tourism board identifies San Nicolas as Aruba's cultural capital and describes murals created through the Aruba Art Fair. A guided mural walk can add the artists' stories and explain how the area developed. If walking independently, use the town's visitor information and treat streets, shops and homes as places where people live and work.
Photograph the art without blocking doorways or stepping into traffic. When sharing a close-up of a particular work, credit the artist when you can identify them. Stop for a drink or food rather than turning the town into a sequence of quick photographs. You do not need to locate every mural to have a worthwhile visit.
Add a museum only if it interests you
The historic water tower houses the Museum of Industry, giving industrial history a place in a visit often focused on beach images. Check opening arrangements before making it essential to the route. A museum plus a guided walk can become the main outing; if so, shorten the beach stop rather than rushing both.
Keep the schedule responsive to the group. Someone interested in art and history may want several hours in town, while a child may be content with a few striking murals and lunch. Agree the broad balance before leaving your accommodation so expectations are similar.

Continue to Baby Beach
Baby Beach is known for a shallow, sheltered-looking lagoon, but judge the actual conditions when you arrive. The marked snorkelling area and the opening towards the sea require particular attention. Use the beach according to signs and local advice; the name does not make it an automatically suitable swimming place for every child.
Choose shade, food and facilities before settling in. Bring enough water and establish whether the equipment you want is available and what it costs. If the setup does not suit your group, a shorter visit is fine. The murals still make the southern journey worthwhile.
Car, taxi or bus?
A rental car can make the combination flexible, provided your contract and parking arrangements suit the outing. With a taxi, agree the stops, waiting arrangements and return price in advance. A transfer to San Nicolas is not automatically a transfer to Baby Beach with waiting time included.
Arubus serves San Nicolas, but inspect the current route and the final leg to the beach separately. Do not assume that reaching the town means you can easily complete the entire proposed route by public transport. If the connections make the day awkward, choose one main destination or book suitable transport.
Keep the return straightforward
Leave room to rinse off, change and get back before an evening reservation. Avoid adding an off-road detour merely because you are in the south. A good version of this day contains a meaningful town visit, an unhurried meal and the amount of beach time your group actually wants.
